How you view your body can significantly impact just about everything — your confidence, emotional well-being, happiness, career, family, and relationships. That inner dialogue with yourself can negatively impact your overall mental and physical well-being.
Imagine how things would be if you started to accept your body for what it is and maybe even go further into full-on love.
It is the belief that your body is unacceptable in its current state and is something to be degraded, hated, and hidden.
You are avoiding social events — You are turning down social invitations because you don’t want to worry about what to wear or what you will eat.
You are having trouble focusing at work — Everywhere you look, someone is “skinnier” or “prettier.” You begin to think you aren’t getting that promotion because you don’t look the part. You are spending your days googling diets instead of focusing on work assignments.
Increased anxiety — Some anxiety about how we look can be normal, but it could be time to seek help if these feelings become more common.
Depressive feelings — Is it hard to get out of bed in the morning? Are you having trouble feeling good about anything? Experiencing frequent bouts of sadness, crying, and irritability?
You are preoccupied with the latest diet trends and fear you could be on a path to an eating disorder.
At Move Forward, our counselors are trained to help you with positive self-talk, the anti-diet, and changing your negative behaviors into positive ones to help you reach a healthier self. It is about helping you to feel your best in your own skin.
To be clear, we do not provide counseling for eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia. Still, we have counselors who specialize in helping you see yourself as the beautiful person you are inside and OUT.
Our counselors can help you build body confidence and resist appearance pressures by examining the “appearance ideal.” We use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Anti-Diet, Acceptance and Change Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
We want to help you to feel good about yourself as a whole. You can call us today to make an appointment for Body Image Counseling in Pennsylvania.
We offer in-person Body Image Issues counseling at all our therapy offices. We can help people all over the state with online therapy in Pennsylvania.
