Hello and welcome! I am Nicol Grim, LSW (she/her), a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) who counsels people age six and older.
I am here to support you on your journey toward healing, growth, and well-being. With more than 25 years of experience working with individuals facing a variety of challenges—whether it’s life transitions, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, or navigating life’s stressors—I am dedicated to creating a safe, compassionate space for you to explore your thoughts and emotions.
Using your unique needs and goals as the foundation for therapy, I’ll work from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Positive Psychology, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT-Informed), Solution Focused Brief Treatment (SFBT) and Motivational Interviewing to help you better understand yourself and develop the tools you need to lead a more fulfilling life.
I know that deciding to engage in therapy is a big decision. My goal is to really come alongside you as you navigate through your own journey. My approach is collaborative, and I believe in tailoring therapy to fit your unique needs, values, and goals. I’m here to listen, understand, and work with you at your pace. Therapy is a personal journey, and I am honored to be a part of yours.
Some of the reasons you can request counseling with me include caregiver stress, therapy for children, family dynamics & conflict, teens, young adults, ADHD, anger, attachment issues, autism, behavioral issues, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, depression, LGBTQIA+, domestic abuse, health and wellness goals, infidelity, ODD, parenting, postpartum/perinatal, self-harm, self-esteem, sleep problems, sexual abuse, sports performance, stress, suicidal ideation, systemic structure, and trauma and PTSD.
When I obtained my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Boston University, I had no idea where social work would take me, but I have loved and learned from every step in my journey. Much of my experience has been working in community mental health, doing both individual and group work with children, adolescents, and families, which is extremely rewarding to me.
I am also passionate about continued professional learning and growth so I can stay current as the research and data helps identify new methods and interventions that can benefit each person I work with. I know it’s essential to meet you where you are and use my experience to help you. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.
Outside of work time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, getting outdoors as much as possible, and being active. I also love to read, travel, and explore new places and activities. Being able to care for myself helps me to better be present and focused during my work time.

Nicol Grim offers in-person sessions at the Lancaster therapy office and online therapy sessions to anyone in Pennsylvania.
Whether you are suffering from panic attacks, obsessive – compulsive disorder, or generalized anxiety we have therapists who use evidenced-based treatments, such as cognitive-bahavioral therapy, to help you.
Caregiving for a loved one can be challenging even in the best of circumstances. Often we don’t think about how the caregiver needs support, too. If you are experiencing burnout, our therapists can teach you skills to help you cope.
Depression, one of the most common mental health disorders, is very treatable. Our therapists are specially trained to help individuals with depression get back to feeling like themselves again.
Life transitions encompass many things, including starting or ending a romantic relationship, changes with work or school or making any big life change, such as a move. Often we underestimate how these changes will affect us emotionally until we find ourselves struggling with the ups and downs of the life transition.
While we don’t provide couples counseling at Move Forward, many individuals seek counseling to discuss how they can have healthier relationships. Our therapists can help you learn new ways of communicating, setting boundaries, and other ways to have more positive relationships with others.
The period of adolescence can be exciting, but also challenging for many teens. Difficulties with friends, school, anxiety, depression, cutting, and substance abuse are all common issues for this group. Due to a lack of life experience, teens may not know how to manage these problems which is why therapy can be especially helpful.
Moving into adulthood brings its own set of challenges. You may feel pressure to have a “career” or find your life partner. You may be unsure of making these big life decisions and may feel lost because you no longer have school or other adults in your life telling you what you should choose.
Trauma symptoms and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can be debilitating for many who experience it. Recovery from trauma is possible and we have therapists who can help.
Being a kid can be difficult sometimes. It’s a crucial developmental period of growth and change during which children learn about the world and themselves. This can be overwhelming to some children since many are still learning all the tools and skills to help them cope with their emotions and life’s stressors. This is where therapy can provide support.
Move Forward Counseling is an inclusive practice where we want the LGBTQIA+ community to feel welcome and supported. Whether you are unsure how to embrace your identity, are having relationship issues, or need extra support from a non-judgmental person, we have therapists who can help.
Depression and anxiety are extremely common, but often under-diagnosed by medical providers during pregnancy and postpartum. Our providers have specialized training to help women with anxiety and depression in this specific period in their lives.
Reach out today to get started. Our supportive staff will help guide you through the scheduling process, discuss special requests and consult your insurance needs.
