Welcome! I’m Dr. Kim Millhimes, PsyD (she/her), a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. I offer counseling to teens aged 13 and older, young adults, and adults.
I’ve worked in the mental health field since 2004 and have been practicing as a Clinical Psychologist since 2011. I am extremely passionate about being a clinician and have often said there is no better job in the world. Being able to help others see and realize their potential is incredibly rewarding and a true honor and privilege.
I specialize in therapy for anxiety, depression, LGBTQIA+ support, panic, phobias, and OCD. I also offer experienced, professional counseling other mental health challenges including ADHD, autism, bipolar disorder, body image, borderline personality disorder (BPD), chronic illness/chronic pain, divorce/separation, eating disorders/disordered eating, gifted adults, grief, health & wellness goals, life transitions, postpartum, pregnancy & perinatal, racial identity, relationship issues, self-harm, self-esteem, sexual abuse, sleep problems, spirituality, stress, suicidal ideation, and trauma & PTSD.
I earned my Bachelor of Psychology degree from Gettysburg College in 2002 and my Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Towson University in 2004. I completed a Doctorate in Psychology from La Salle University in Philadelphia in 2009. I completed a clinical internship in the counseling center at the Metropolitan State College of Denver in Denver, Colorado, and a post-doctoral residency at the Renfrew Center in Philadelphia, working with women with eating disorders within a residential setting.
My training and background are very firmly rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and acceptance-based therapies, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Additionally, I integrate strength-based, person-centered, Mindfulness-Based Therapy (MBCT), Positive Psychology, and Prolonged Exposure Therapy approaches to my therapy sessions.
You are unique, and I’ll collaborate with you on which approach allows us to work together as a team. Together, we’ll focus on identifying and living out your values in the life domains you identify as most important to you. We’ll aim to set achievable goals in line with those values.
We live in a world that is too loud and overstimulating for many of our brains. It will be important to me to help you tune out some of the noise and tune into what brings you the most joy and fulfillment in life. I believe this is often achieved through quieting the mind and tuning into the wisdom our bodies often deliver to us.
I avidly love nature and enjoy hiking, kayaking, skiing, and playing tennis. I enjoy reading fiction and non-fiction and love exploring independent bookstores. Health and nutrition are very important to me, so cooking, baking, and trying new recipes are a big part of my life. I am married and the mother to two teenage sons, often spending time with them at the soccer field! We also have two beautiful greyhounds who have been a wonderful addition to our lives.
I very much look forward to getting to know you and working with you. You have my commitment to providing the care and understanding you deserve.

Whether you are suffering from panic attacks, obsessive – compulsive disorder, or generalized anxiety we have therapists who use evidenced-based treatments, such as cognitive-bahavioral therapy, to help you.
Many individuals feel like they are at war with their bodies. Whether it’s feeling shame, guilt, or giving ourselves critical comments about our bodies, we can be our own worst enemy. Our therapists can help you feel at peace with your body and learn to be kind to yourself.
Caregiving for a loved one can be challenging even in the best of circumstances. Often we don’t think about how the caregiver needs support, too. If you are experiencing burnout, our therapists can teach you skills to help you cope.
Depression and anxiety are extremely common, but often under-diagnosed by medical providers during pregnancy and postpartum. Our providers have specialized training to help women with anxiety and depression in this specific period in their lives.
Depression, one of the most common mental health disorders, is very treatable. Our therapists are specially trained to help individuals with depression get back to feeling like themselves again.
Move Forward Counseling is an inclusive practice where we want the LGBTQIA+ community to feel welcome and supported. Whether you are unsure how to embrace your identity, are having relationship issues, or need extra support from a non-judgmental person, we have therapists who can help.
Life transitions encompass many things, including starting or ending a romantic relationship, changes with work or school or making any big life change, such as a move. Often we underestimate how these changes will affect us emotionally until we find ourselves struggling with the ups and downs of the life transition.
While we don’t provide couples counseling at Move Forward, many individuals seek counseling to discuss how they can have healthier relationships. Our therapists can help you learn new ways of communicating, setting boundaries, and other ways to have more positive relationships with others.
It is important to understand that everyone’s experience with substance use is different; therefore, symptoms and consequences can differ. The levels of treatment also differ based on your usage and whether you seek support for substance use or have been diagnosed with an SUD.
Trauma symptoms and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can be debilitating for many who experience it. Recovery from trauma is possible and we have therapists who can help.
Moving into adulthood brings its own set of challenges. You may feel pressure to have a “career” or find your life partner. You may be unsure of making these big life decisions and may feel lost because you no longer have school or other adults in your life telling you what you should choose.
Reach out today to get started. Our supportive staff will help guide you through the scheduling process, discuss special requests and consult your insurance needs.
