Hello, I’m Dr. Megan Lavery (she/her)!
I am a licensed Clinical Health Psychologist with extensive experience helping clients take control of their relationship with food, their bodies, and their health. Working through complicated health and eating histories, I specialize in disordered eating (emotional eating, binge eating, night eating), weight management, bariatric surgery, body image issues, insomnia, women’s health, and infertility. I also offer Bariatric Evaluations.
I am passionate about supporting healthy behavioral changes for clients who face barriers, low motivation, depression/anxiety, and health concerns. I also work with teens, young adults, and adults on their interpersonal relationships and life changes.
I aim to create a nonjudgmental and compassionate atmosphere where you can openly explore your lifelong patterns related to food, emotion regulation, and self-esteem. It is important to me to work as a team so that you know you are not alone in their journey. Ultimately, my objective is to support you in successfully achieving your personal health goals and finding more adaptive coping strategies in service of living a life you value.
We often try to set unrealistic goals for ourselves, particularly concerning self-improvement. Staying in a cycle of defeat can feel overwhelming and isolating. Working as a team, I’ll support you in setting realistic behavioral goals that allow you to lead you to the life you want.
I’ve helped many clients achieve long-term success and discovered the importance of addressing ambivalence, uncertainty, and self-doubt within our work.
Within my health psychology specialty, I completed distinctive training at the University of Pennsylvania Center for Weight and Eating Disorders and a fellowship at Cleveland Clinic’s Bariatric & Metabolic Institute.
Through my professional training and years working as a Psychologist, I have found evidence-based treatments to be very effective in addressing the psychological aspects of disordered eating and other health concerns. Often, I utilize Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance-Based Therapy (ACT) techniques.
While my overarching methods are based on researched protocols, I understand the importance of remaining flexible and tailoring my therapy to your individual needs. I’m here to serve your needs to the fullest.
