Hi, my name is Darlene Oliver (she/her), a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC).
I have 25 years of experience providing therapy in multiple settings, including inpatient mental health, outpatient day programs, and outpatient drug and alcohol settings. I enjoy working with people living with anxiety, depression, Bipolar Disorder, OCD, Addiction issues, and religious trauma/deconstruction, to name a few.
I believe, first and foremost, in unconditional acceptance and building a trusting relationship. I enjoy exploring with people collaboratively where they’ve become stuck and working together to change patterns that aren’t working to begin to make positive changes. I will also support you in healing from difficult life struggles, including grief and loss.
My approach to therapy often includes techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I’ll also focus on empowering you and working to build your self-esteem and confidence to reach your goals and full potential. I work with people of all age ranges, from young adults to help them explore a sense of direction to middle-aged and beyond. I enjoy working with men and women from all backgrounds and identities, including histories of abuse and trauma.
As a CAADC, I’ve worked in a Drug & Alcohol Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and both detox and dual diagnosis facilities.
I have a Master’s degree in Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Southeastern University.
I enjoy watching movies with my family and going out to dinner in my free time. I enjoy reading and going to the gym. I also love to go to the beach whenever I can.
If you are looking for someone to talk to and work through your issues with, I would love to have the opportunity to speak with you!

Depression, one of the most common mental health disorders, is very treatable. Our therapists are specially trained to help individuals with depression get back to feeling like themselves again.
Move Forward Counseling is an inclusive practice where we want the LGBTQIA+ community to feel welcome and supported. Whether you are unsure how to embrace your identity, are having relationship issues, or need extra support from a non-judgmental person, we have therapists who can help.
Life transitions encompass many things, including starting or ending a romantic relationship, changes with work or school or making any big life change, such as a move. Often we underestimate how these changes will affect us emotionally until we find ourselves struggling with the ups and downs of the life transition.

Moving into adulthood brings its own set of challenges. You may feel pressure to have a “career” or find your life partner. You may be unsure of making these big life decisions and may feel lost because you no longer have school or other adults in your life telling you what you should choose.
It is important to understand that everyone’s experience with substance use is different; therefore, symptoms and consequences can differ. The levels of treatment also differ based on your usage and whether you seek support for substance use or have been diagnosed with an SUD.
