About Courtney McComb

Hello, I’m Courtney McComb (she/they), and I offer counseling for children (6+), teens, young adults, adults, and older adults (65+).

I believe everyone has their path, and I hope to provide you with a place to feel heard, valued, and empowered. Therapy looks different for each individual, and my aim in working with you is to find your strengths and give you the tools you need to be the person you would like to be. You’ve already taken the first step, and I intend to help you get where you want to be!

My Background

I graduated from Marywood University with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy and have been a board-certified Music Therapist for several years. In my experience as a Music Therapist, I’ve worked with a wide range of people of all ages and diagnoses and have had the pleasure of learning from each person I have worked with.  That love of working and helping others led me to earn a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University.

My Specialties In Therapy

As a therapist, I believe that you already have all the tools you need to succeed, but sometimes guidance and collaboration are what we need to get to that point. I work with a wide range of people with different mental health challenges, and I am ready to meet you where you’re at.

As for specialties, I have a passion and long history of working with neurodivergent clients – such as those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and other disorders that make you experience life a little differently. I am also passionate about working with people who have anxiety, along with people who identify in the LGBTQIA+ community. I strive to offer a space for anyone to feel welcome and get the help they deserve!

How I Can Help

Other challenges I can counsel for include life transitions, depression, anger, body image, attachment issues, behavioral issues, bipolar disorder, chronic pain/illness, developmental disabilities, infertility, grief, health and wellness, OCD, ODD, parenting, postpartum/perinatal, self-harm, self-esteem, sleep issues, technology addition, trauma & PTSD, religious deconstruction, and more. Let our scheduling team know what your specific needs are for therapy.

Techniques in Therapy

My style of therapy is integrative, which means that I adjust my approach to you to best reach your goals. I often use techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered Therapy, and Art Therapy.  I also offer play therapy for children, and I am trained and passionate about helping others with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

I want to provide a space for anyone to feel welcome and get the help they deserve. If you think we might be a good match, I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.

About Me

Outside work, I like spending my free time being a couch potato with my cats or relaxing and playing video games. I am big on creative efforts and pour much of my passion into music, writing, or collaborative storytelling – such as games of Dungeons and Dragons!
