Welcome! My name is Chloe Marie Philippen. I am a Licensed Social Worker (LSW), (she/her). In May 2023, I received a Master’s degree in social work with a clinical concentration from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
I have always had a passion for understanding people and their stories. We are all unique, and our life experiences inform how we understand the world and ourselves. I feel that it is an incredible honor to hold space for people who are seeking growth and fulfillment.
I am a compassionate therapist dedicated to helping you navigate your healing journey through a person-centered, trauma-informed, and attachment-focused lens. I believe in every person’s inherent worth and potential. During therapy, I’ll integrate psychodynamic techniques to explore the underlying emotional patterns and unconscious processes that influence your unique thoughts, behaviors, and relationships.
I counsel children, teens, young adults, adults, and older adults (65+) for a variety of challenges, such as substance use, addiction, bipolar disorder, domestic abuse, eating disorders, LGBTQ+ struggles, gifted youth and adults, sexual addiction, self-harm, personality disorders, OCD, life transitions, anxiety, depression, BPD, relationship issues, religious deconstruction, body image, personality disorders, counseling for mothers, traumatic birth experiences, trauma & PTSD, and more.
My experience in the field has focused heavily on coping with grief and resilience in the aftermath of trauma. I provide services to trauma survivors of all ages and across many settings, including shelters, hospitals, inpatient and outpatient centers, prisons, and schools.
With a deep understanding of trauma and its impact on the mind and body, I aim to create a safe, supportive space for you to process your experiences and work toward emotional well-being. My approach emphasizes the importance of secure attachments and relational dynamics, recognizing that healing occurs within meaningful, trusting relationships. I will be that trusting relationship if you don’t have one for support.
I understand that trauma can impact people at any stage of life. Whether you’re dealing with a recent trauma or something that occurred in childhood, I believe that it’s never too late to address these issues. You can begin the healing process now.
I aim to offer you a space where you can feel safe sharing. I believe that your life experiences and messages you have received shape how you see yourself and the world in which you live. We’ll explore how those earlier experiences have informed your own patterns of behavior utilizing Mindfulness techniques as well as elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I am deeply committed to cultural sensitivity, acknowledging and respecting every client’s diverse backgrounds and experiences. I believe you are the expert of your own life, and I will work collaboratively to honor your unique perspectives and strengths.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time outside camping and gardening. I find healing for myself in music and creating peaceful spaces to spend time with friends and family.

Whether you are suffering from panic attacks, obsessive – compulsive disorder, or generalized anxiety we have therapists who use evidenced-based treatments, such as cognitive-bahavioral therapy, to help you.
Many individuals feel like they are at war with their bodies. Whether it’s feeling shame, guilt, or giving ourselves critical comments about our bodies, we can be our own worst enemy. Our therapists can help you feel at peace with your body and learn to be kind to yourself.
Caregiving for a loved one can be challenging even in the best of circumstances. Often we don’t think about how the caregiver needs support, too. If you are experiencing burnout, our therapists can teach you skills to help you cope.
Depression and anxiety are extremely common, but often under-diagnosed by medical providers during pregnancy and postpartum. Our providers have specialized training to help women with anxiety and depression in this specific period in their lives.
Depression, one of the most common mental health disorders, is very treatable. Our therapists are specially trained to help individuals with depression get back to feeling like themselves again.
Move Forward Counseling is an inclusive practice where we want the LGBTQIA+ community to feel welcome and supported. Whether you are unsure how to embrace your identity, are having relationship issues, or need extra support from a non-judgmental person, we have therapists who can help.
Life transitions encompass many things, including starting or ending a romantic relationship, changes with work or school or making any big life change, such as a move. Often we underestimate how these changes will affect us emotionally until we find ourselves struggling with the ups and downs of the life transition.
While we don’t provide couples counseling at Move Forward, many individuals seek counseling to discuss how they can have healthier relationships. Our therapists can help you learn new ways of communicating, setting boundaries, and other ways to have more positive relationships with others.
Trauma symptoms and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can be debilitating for many who experience it. Recovery from trauma is possible and we have therapists who can help.

Moving into adulthood brings its own set of challenges. You may feel pressure to have a “career” or find your life partner. You may be unsure of making these big life decisions and may feel lost because you no longer have school or other adults in your life telling you what you should choose.
Being a kid can be difficult sometimes. It’s a crucial developmental period of growth and change during which children learn about the world and themselves. This can be overwhelming to some children since many are still learning all the tools and skills to help them cope with their emotions and life’s stressors. This is where therapy can provide support.
Reach out today to get started. Our supportive staff will help guide you through the scheduling process, discuss special requests and consult your insurance needs.
