Hello! I am Cecilia Wishneski (she/her), a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC).
I moved to Lancaster this past summer after spending four years in Pittsburgh, obtaining my graduate degree, and working with a non-profit therapy practice. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Child and Family Studies from Albright College and my Master of Science in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling from Duquesne University. I grew up next door in Chester County and have been enamored with Lancaster City for as long as I can remember.
I offer therapy to teens (18+), young adults, adults, and older adults (65+) as individual or couples counseling. I’ll help you navigate challenges you may be facing, such as anxiety, depression, body image, borderline personality disorder (BPD), co-dependency, divorce/separation, racial identity, family conflict, gifted youth and adults, grief, parenting, postpartum/pregnancy/perinatal, racial identity, religious deconstruction, self-harm, self-esteem, sexual abuse, sex addiction, suicidal ideation, technology addiction, adjustment disorders, trauma, LGBTQIA+ support, relationships, and attachment wounds.
My therapy style is warm, empathetic, and collaborative, focusing on building a safe and trusting relationship with you. I approach therapy with an integrative mindset, drawing from evidence-based modalities tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual or couple I counsel. Counseling both couples and individuals is both rewarding and fulfilling for me.
During sessions, I will strive to balance compassion with structure, creating an environment where you will feel seen, supported, and motivated to grow.
I utilize a client-centered approach based on your goals, values, and readiness for change. As an Emotionally Focused Relationship Therapy (EFT-trained) therapist, I can help you explore and process your emotions to foster deeper understanding and healing, particularly in relationships. I often emphasize the importance of relationships and attachment patterns, which can help you understand how past experiences influence current dynamics.
I also use elements of the Gottman Method, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Person-Centered Therapy, Positive Psychology, Rational Emotive Behavior (REBT), Solution Focused Brief (SFBT), Strength-Based Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to provide clients with practical strategies for communication, emotional regulation, and behavior change.
I cherish a cozy and vibrant life. I share my home with my beloved cats, Winston and Stevie, and enjoy quality time with my fiancé, often reading, crafting, or bingeing television shows together.
Family is incredibly important to me, and I work to maintain a close and supportive bond with them. As much as I love Pittsburgh and loved living there, I moved back to southeastern PA to be closer to my siblings, parents, and nieces and nephews. I find joy and fulfillment in exploring my city’s hidden gems or venturing to new destinations, embracing the thrill of discovery and connection.

Cecilia Wishneski offers in-person sessions at our Lancaster Downtown therapy office and online therapy sessions across Pennsylvania.
Whether you are suffering from panic attacks, obsessive – compulsive disorder, or generalized anxiety we have therapists who use evidenced-based treatments, such as cognitive-bahavioral therapy, to help you.
Many individuals feel like they are at war with their bodies. Whether it’s feeling shame, guilt, or giving ourselves critical comments about our bodies, we can be our own worst enemy. Our therapists can help you feel at peace with your body and learn to be kind to yourself.
Caregiving for a loved one can be challenging even in the best of circumstances. Often we don’t think about how the caregiver needs support, too. If you are experiencing burnout, our therapists can teach you skills to help you cope.
Depression, one of the most common mental health disorders, is very treatable. Our therapists are specially trained to help individuals with depression get back to feeling like themselves again.
Move Forward Counseling is an inclusive practice where we want the LGBTQIA+ community to feel welcome and supported. Whether you are unsure how to embrace your identity, are having relationship issues, or need extra support from a non-judgmental person, we have therapists who can help.
Life transitions encompass many things, including starting or ending a romantic relationship, changes with work or school or making any big life change, such as a move. Often we underestimate how these changes will affect us emotionally until we find ourselves struggling with the ups and downs of the life transition.
While we don’t provide couples counseling at Move Forward, many individuals seek counseling to discuss how they can have healthier relationships. Our therapists can help you learn new ways of communicating, setting boundaries, and other ways to have more positive relationships with others.
It is important to understand that everyone’s experience with substance use is different; therefore, symptoms and consequences can differ. The levels of treatment also differ based on your usage and whether you seek support for substance use or have been diagnosed with an SUD.
Trauma symptoms and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can be debilitating for many who experience it. Recovery from trauma is possible and we have therapists who can help.
Moving into adulthood brings its own set of challenges. You may feel pressure to have a “career” or find your life partner. You may be unsure of making these big life decisions and may feel lost because you no longer have school or other adults in your life telling you what you should choose.
Reach out today to get started. Our supportive staff will help guide you through the scheduling process, discuss special requests and consult your insurance needs.
