Hi there, I’m Cari Herschman (she/her), a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
For over ten years, I’ve had the honor of counseling teenagers, young adults, and adults through their experiences with depression, anxiety, life transitions, mood disorders, grief, loss, and relationship issues.
My passion for the mental health field started at a young age when I developed a deep curiosity for human behavior, the inner workings of the human mind, and why we do the things we do.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Pennsylvania State University and completed my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kutztown University.
I received my certificate of completion for Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders: Components of Care in July 2024 and will take the exam for full certification from Postpartum Support International (PSI) later in 2024.
I am also trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and often incorporate aspects of solution-focused, reality therapy (SFBT), and Mindfulness.
My approach is very individualized because no one else in the world is exactly like you! I’m interested in how stress, life transitions, and struggles impact how you feel about yourself and your relationships within the world.
Creating a safe space for therapy is a priority for me. I take pride in being a calming and non-judgmental presence, having an empathic and ‘meet you where you are’ approach to each session. I will also attempt to maintain an important balance to understand your situation but challenge you to change and better your lifestyle.
I aim to utilize inclusive interventions to provide concrete skills I can provide you with to increase your confidence and help you realize that you’ve got this! You don’t have to do this alone. As your therapy partner, I’ll help you uncover your inner strengths, empower you, and help you connect with your best self.
I believe everyone can benefit from therapy, learning new coping skills, and changing unhealthy thought patterns. Using a person-centered approach, I’ll help you set realistic goals and work to help you achieve them. My sessions are a no-pressure, non-judgmental, and safe space to learn and grow.
I honor the courage it takes for you to explore therapists and schedule a first-time appointment. It may even feel scary and uncertain. I promise to meet and support you wherever you are at our first session together.
Outside of my role as a therapist, I enjoy learning more about the mental health field through researching, reading, and attending conferences and trainings. I also enjoy cheering on my favorite sports teams, gardening/planting, walking outside, and spending quality time with friends and family. However, my favorite role in life is being a dedicated mother.
I appreciate you stopping by my page. I look forward to the opportunity to learn all about you.

Cari Herschman offers online counseling across Pennsylvania and in-person counseling sessions at our beautiful Lehigh Valley therapy office in Emmaus, PA.
Whether you are suffering from panic attacks, obsessive – compulsive disorder, or generalized anxiety we have therapists who use evidenced-based treatments, such as cognitive-bahavioral therapy, to help you.
Depression and anxiety are extremely common, but often under-diagnosed by medical providers during pregnancy and postpartum. Our providers have specialized training to help women with anxiety and depression in this specific period in their lives.
Depression, one of the most common mental health disorders, is very treatable. Our therapists are specially trained to help individuals with depression get back to feeling like themselves again.
Struggling with infertility can be so difficult, especially if no one around you has experienced something similar. It can feel like an isolating journey and people find they often need support to navigate the emotional aspects of the process. Our therapists have specialized training to help you.
Life transitions encompass many things, including starting or ending a romantic relationship, changes with work or school or making any big life change, such as a move. Often we underestimate how these changes will affect us emotionally until we find ourselves struggling with the ups and downs of the life transition.
While we don’t provide couples counseling at Move Forward, many individuals seek counseling to discuss how they can have healthier relationships. Our therapists can help you learn new ways of communicating, setting boundaries, and other ways to have more positive relationships with others.
Moving into adulthood brings its own set of challenges. You may feel pressure to have a “career” or find your life partner. You may be unsure of making these big life decisions and may feel lost because you no longer have school or other adults in your life telling you what you should choose.
Reach out today to get started. Our supportive staff will help guide you through the scheduling process, discuss special requests and consult your insurance needs.
