Hi, I’m Anna E. Lotze (she/her), a licensed social worker (LSW) with a Master of Social Work from Penn West University in California, PA. I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Hobart & William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY.
Before entering the outpatient therapy world, I managed clinical research studies, provided early intervention services, and organized mental health training workshops for various populations. I also have experience helping individuals struggling with their identities, complex anxiety, and neurodivergence.
I provide individual therapy to adults experiencing various mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem, family/relationship conflicts, co-dependency, ADD/ADHD/neurodivergence, bipolar disorder, moral injury, parenting issues, sleep problems, spirituality, technology addiction, and therapy for 20-somethings. I can also help you develop goals for personal growth and a path for self-discovery and awareness.
My personal journey has taught me that authenticity and connection are the cornerstones of healing. In creating a safe and welcoming space, I strive to meet people where they are, inviting them to explore their experiences and discover underlying meaning. I remain dedicated to walking alongside my clients as they embark on their paths to healing, providing unwavering compassion, insightful guidance, and steadfast support every step of the way.
Together, we will navigate the complexities of life, uncovering hidden strengths and resilience that may have been previously hidden. As Carl Rogers once said, ‘The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.‘ It would be an honor to accompany you on your journey toward self-acceptance, growth, and a more fulfilling, meaningful life.
You can expect me to be approachable, curious, and genuine while providing a supportive, comfortable, and safe place to be your true self. As a therapist, I incorporate acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing modalities through a strengths-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed approach. During our sessions, I will provide a safe space to express yourself freely without judgment.
I hold a special admiration, connection, and empathy for people on their journeys of healing and recovery. My therapeutic approach is holistic and eclectic, and I’m deeply committed to providing a supportive environment where you’ll feel safe and seen. I’ll strive to empower you with practical tools to navigate challenges, manage different stressors, and cultivate resilience, achieving balance and awareness.
With over 20 years working in the field of psychology, I have engaged in a range of professional activities, including managing clinical research studies, leading mental health training sessions, and supporting neurodiverse youth and their families. As a group therapist, I’ve helped clients with complex anxiety through trauma-informed programs involving radical acceptance, exposure work, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and other relevant skills and themes. I also completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training, weaving mindfulness, somatic, and wellness principles into my practice.
I’m continually inspired by the strength and determination of those I am privileged to work with and would be honored to help support you.
When not working, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, practicing yoga, reading, hiking, going to museums, traveling, and doing the bidding of my cat, Nobi.

Anna E. Lotze offers in-person counseling at the Pittsburgh therapy office and online therapy sessions for anyone across Pennsylvania.
Whether you are suffering from panic attacks, obsessive – compulsive disorder, or generalized anxiety we have therapists who use evidenced-based treatments, such as cognitive-bahavioral therapy, to help you.
Many individuals feel like they are at war with their bodies. Whether it’s feeling shame, guilt, or giving ourselves critical comments about our bodies, we can be our own worst enemy. Our therapists can help you feel at peace with your body and learn to be kind to yourself.
Caregiving for a loved one can be challenging even in the best of circumstances. Often we don’t think about how the caregiver needs support, too. If you are experiencing burnout, our therapists can teach you skills to help you cope.
Depression and anxiety are extremely common, but often under-diagnosed by medical providers during pregnancy and postpartum. Our providers have specialized training to help women with anxiety and depression in this specific period in their lives.
Depression, one of the most common mental health disorders, is very treatable. Our therapists are specially trained to help individuals with depression get back to feeling like themselves again.
Life transitions encompass many things, including starting or ending a romantic relationship, changes with work or school or making any big life change, such as a move. Often we underestimate how these changes will affect us emotionally until we find ourselves struggling with the ups and downs of the life transition.
While we don’t provide couples counseling at Move Forward, many individuals seek counseling to discuss how they can have healthier relationships. Our therapists can help you learn new ways of communicating, setting boundaries, and other ways to have more positive relationships with others.
Trauma symptoms and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can be debilitating for many who experience it. Recovery from trauma is possible and we have therapists who can help.
Moving into adulthood brings its own set of challenges. You may feel pressure to have a “career” or find your life partner. You may be unsure of making these big life decisions and may feel lost because you no longer have school or other adults in your life telling you what you should choose.
Reach out today to get started. Our supportive staff will help guide you through the scheduling process, discuss special requests and consult your insurance needs.
