Hello! I am Lauren Mast (she/her), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I offer counseling to people age nine and older.
I believe that each of us has strengths that are vital to access and use in working through anxiety, ADHD, attachment issues, family conflict, suicidal ideation, self-harming behavior, gifted youth and adults, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship stress, and many other challenges that we face as humans throughout our lives. It is important to me that we balance deep and serious conversations with the ability to be human beings together and have grace when things get difficult.
It is my goal to create a comfortable, nonjudgmental space where we can examine your experiences together. I want to walk with you and those who support you to address your goals and experience growth.
I have worked in Family Based Mental Health Services, providing trauma-informed care to families and the systems that support them. I understand that individuals and families react from the context of their experience and are supported by the resources in their environment.
It is my goal to help you access your resources and operate based on your strengths as we learn skills together.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Messiah University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Millersville University of Pennsylvania. I have experience working primarily with family systems and the individuals within those systems. I will focus on identifying how your environment impacts you and how we can use your environment to support you better or change it to address your needs.
My background is also based on the Eco-Systemic Structural Family Therapy Model, which addresses how an individual experiences the system or environment that they are in. This may sound like a model only used with families, but being grounded in this model will help us to identify your strengths and resources already present in your environment.
I use a variety of skills from techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing to address challenges you may face. I hope that regardless of the specific therapy model, we can find a balance of skills and techniques that allow you to create your growth in your goals as we work together.
I am originally from Lancaster, PA, and returned to the area after working in Dauphin County for several years. I love spending my time reading, playing video games, hanging out with friends, and making different baked goods using my sourdough starter! I am enjoying my new grey kitten and exploring new and familiar areas!

Lauren Mast offers online therapy sessions to anyone in Pennsylvania and has some in-person therapy available at the Lancaster therapy office.
Whether you are suffering from panic attacks, obsessive – compulsive disorder, or generalized anxiety we have therapists who use evidenced-based treatments, such as cognitive-bahavioral therapy, to help you.
Many individuals feel like they are at war with their bodies. Whether it’s feeling shame, guilt, or giving ourselves critical comments about our bodies, we can be our own worst enemy. Our therapists can help you feel at peace with your body and learn to be kind to yourself.
Depression, one of the most common mental health disorders, is very treatable. Our therapists are specially trained to help individuals with depression get back to feeling like themselves again.
Move Forward Counseling is an inclusive practice where we want the LGBTQIA+ community to feel welcome and supported. Whether you are unsure how to embrace your identity, are having relationship issues, or need extra support from a non-judgmental person, we have therapists who can help.
Life transitions encompass many things, including starting or ending a romantic relationship, changes with work or school or making any big life change, such as a move. Often we underestimate how these changes will affect us emotionally until we find ourselves struggling with the ups and downs of the life transition.
While we don’t provide couples counseling at Move Forward, many individuals seek counseling to discuss how they can have healthier relationships. Our therapists can help you learn new ways of communicating, setting boundaries, and other ways to have more positive relationships with others.
Trauma symptoms and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can be debilitating for many who experience it. Recovery from trauma is possible and we have therapists who can help.
Moving into adulthood brings its own set of challenges. You may feel pressure to have a “career” or find your life partner. You may be unsure of making these big life decisions and may feel lost because you no longer have school or other adults in your life telling you what you should choose.
The period of adolescence can be exciting, but also challenging for many teens. Difficulties with friends, school, anxiety, depression, cutting, and substance abuse are all common issues for this group. Due to a lack of life experience, teens may not know how to manage these problems which is why therapy can be especially helpful.
Being a kid can be difficult sometimes. It’s a crucial developmental period of growth and change during which children learn about the world and themselves. This can be overwhelming to some children since many are still learning all the tools and skills to help them cope with their emotions and life’s stressors. This is where therapy can provide support.
Reach out today to get started. Our supportive staff will help guide you through the scheduling process, discuss special requests and consult your insurance needs.
