Hi, I’m Vanessa Esgro (she/her).  Welcome!

I applaud you for taking the first step in finding a therapist that is the right fit for you. One of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story, and I am here to help you.

About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) specializing in substance use and a number of mental health concerns. I graduated from Immaculata University in Malvern, PA, receiving my Master’s in Psychology and Addiction Studies Graduate Certificate.

I have extensive experience working with people with co-occurring conditions in a variety of contexts. To help you, I will incorporate many treatment modalities, specifically cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and person-centered approaches based on what we discover about you during sessions and the areas of greatest difficulty in your life.  I also utilize some DBT-based modalities.

My Role In Helping You

We possess what we need to live a happy and fulfilling life. I see my role as a guide to help; you are not alone. We live in a world that is often overwhelming. Therapy can be a safe space where you feel heard, understood, and respected.  Our sessions together can be that safe space.

My goal will be to increase your self-understanding, helping to increase your feelings of empowerment, courage, self-determination, hope, purpose, and freedom. I look forward to encouraging you to be open and put in the effort and trust that enables changes to occur. By utilizing your internal resources, you can be the person you want to be and live the life you choose.

Outside of Counseling

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time outside as much as possible, reading, yoga, and being with my family and rescue dog. I look forward to hearing about your hobbies, too!
