Alison Pidgeon, MA, LPC, is the Founder and CEO of Move Forward Counseling LLC. What started as a solo private practice in early 2015 quickly grew into a group practice and has been expanding ever since.
Alison has been working in the mental health field since 2003. She graduated from Immaculata University with a Master’s degree in counseling psychology in 2007. She earned her license as a professional counselor (LPC) in 2009. Her time spent working in community mental health helped to shape her as a leader and made her aware of the problems which exist in the mental health system.
Taking what she learned from the traditional model of mental health care, Alison set out to create something different when she started her private practice. Her attention to detail to the whole client experience and treating her staff exceptionally well have built a reputation of excellence recognized by the community.
In early 2017, Alison helped create a charity fund for maternal mental health through the Lancaster Osteopathic Health Foundation. The Pregnancy and Postpartum Mental Health of Lancaster County fund exist to help women receive counseling and postpartum doula support who otherwise can’t afford it. In addition, the fund helps sponsor training to teach healthcare professionals how to screen women for maternal mental health disorders.
Alison has been a champion of reducing the stigma of mental health disorders by regularly contributing to Susquehanna Style Magazine. She has been featured in Fine Living Lancaster Magazine, on the Fun 101.3 radio station, and on WGAL TV News 8.
In November 2017, Move Forward Counseling LLC earned the Central Penn Business Journal’s “Best Emerging Business of the Year” Award.
In addition to overseeing Move Forward Counseling LLC, Alison works as a business consultant for Practice of the Practice, where she helps other clinicians start and grow their own private practices.
Alison Pidgeon is not currently practicing as an LPC or taking appointments.

The period of adolescence can be exciting, but also challenging for many teens. Difficulties with friends, school, anxiety, depression, cutting, and substance abuse are all common issues for this group.
