I’m Victoria (Tori) VanBuren, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Behavioral Specialist. 

Creating a Safe Space

As a clinician, I aim to hold a safe, non-judgmental space to help others thrive and make meaningful changes. I am dedicated to being authentic, open-minded, empathetic, competent, and resourceful for my clients.

Specialties and Techniques

My therapeutic style is eclectic and personally tailored to each individual. Much of my training is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I utilize techniques from a variety of other therapeutic modalities, including (but not limited to) Trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment Theory, Experiential therapies, Somatic Experiencing, Positive Psychology, Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and Creative therapies (art, music, literature, forest, etc.).

My Experience

My experiences include being in the mental health field since 2010 and being an outpatient counselor since 2016. I value staying current on the latest evidence-based research to ensure I use the most effective interventions. As a result, I can help assist with various mental health concerns, such as:

  • anxiety and overwhelm
  • depression, sadness, and moving through changes
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and complex (c-PTSD)
  • bipolar disorder and other emotional regulation difficulties
  • grief/loss bereavement
  • existential exploration, purpose, and meaning
  • relationship conflicts and building healthy relationships
  • self-esteem, self-love, resilience building, and empowerment
  • codependency, boundaries, and difficulties saying “no.”
  • stress management, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques
  • psychoeducation and coping skill building

In my free time, I enjoy reading, learning new things, listening to podcasts, being in nature, hiking, gardening, music, art, and yoga. I integrate nutritional psychology, eastern philosophy, holistic health, and herbal remedies. I adore the time I get to spend with loved ones and going on adventures.
