About Stephanie Rineer
Hello, I’m Stephanie Rineer (she/her), MS, a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC). Thank you for visiting my page. I’m so glad you’re here.
I offer counseling to Adolescents (ages 9 to 12), teens (ages 13 to 17), young adults (18 years and older), and adults in-person in Hershey, PA, and online across Pennsylvania.
Supporting Your Journey
I believe therapy can be a place where hope is gently rediscovered and growth is nurtured over time. If you are feeling overwhelmed, navigating change, or longing for greater balance, I strive to offer a space where you feel supported, understood, and encouraged as you move forward. Using a trauma-informed and strengths-based lens, I will work to honor both your struggles and your resilience. Together, we can build insight, strengthen coping, and create meaningful shifts that align with the life you want to live.
Ultimately, I see therapy as a collaborative journey grounded in trust, compassion, and authenticity, and I feel privileged to walk alongside you as you reconnect with yourself and your capacity for growth.
My Therapy Specialties – How I Can Help
I offer therapy for a broad range of mental health needs, such as caregiver stress, anger management, anxiety, attachment issues, body image, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), chronic pain/illness, co-dependency, depression, relationship issues, grief & loss, LGBTQIA+ support, postpartum, OCD, Personality Disorders (PD), self-harm & self esteem, substance use, suicidal ideation, sleep issues, trauma and PTSD, and more.
Techniques Used In Therapy
My therapeutic approach is influenced by Humanistic and Psychodynamic perspectives, which means I emphasize understanding your story, relationships, and internal experiences through a supportive, authentic connection.
Alongside this foundation, I draw on evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ACT, and DBT to offer practical tools to support coping, emotional regulation, and values-based living. I view therapy as individualized and collaborative, and I will work to integrate approaches in ways that feel relevant and helpful for your unique goals.
Education and Background
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Millersville University. My background includes case management work within transitional housing and workforce development settings, where I supported individuals through periods of change while helping them identify strengths, pursue goals, and connect with resources. I later began clinical work in community mental health, providing therapeutic support focused on insight development, resilience, and personal growth.
About Me
Outside of being a therapist, I enjoy spending meaningful time with loved ones, getting lost in a good book, exploring creative projects, and tending to my houseplants.

Stephanie Rineer's Specialties
Anxiety Therapy
Whether you are suffering from panic attacks, obsessive – compulsive disorder, or generalized anxiety we have therapists who use evidenced-based treatments, such as cognitive-bahavioral therapy, to help you.
Body Image Issues
Many individuals feel like they are at war with their bodies. Whether it’s feeling shame, guilt, or giving ourselves critical comments about our bodies, we can be our own worst enemy. Our therapists can help you feel at peace with your body and learn to be kind to yourself.
Caregiver Stress
Caregiving for a loved one can be challenging even in the best of circumstances. Often we don’t think about how the caregiver needs support, too. If you are experiencing burnout, our therapists can teach you skills to help you cope.
Counseling for Mothers
Depression and anxiety are extremely common, but often under-diagnosed by medical providers during pregnancy and postpartum. Our providers have specialized training to help women with anxiety and depression in this specific period in their lives.
Depression Therapy
Depression, one of the most common mental health disorders, is very treatable. Our therapists are specially trained to help individuals with depression get back to feeling like themselves again.
LGBTQIA+ Counseling
Move Forward Counseling is an inclusive practice where we want the LGBTQIA+ community to feel welcome and supported. Whether you are unsure how to embrace your identity, are having relationship issues, or need extra support from a non-judgmental person, we have therapists who can help.
Life Transitions
Life transitions encompass many things, including starting or ending a romantic relationship, changes with work or school or making any big life change, such as a move. Often we underestimate how these changes will affect us emotionally until we find ourselves struggling with the ups and downs of the life transition.
Relationship Issues
While we don’t provide couples counseling at Move Forward, many individuals seek counseling to discuss how they can have healthier relationships. Our therapists can help you learn new ways of communicating, setting boundaries, and other ways to have more positive relationships with others.
Substance Use Counseling
It is important to understand that everyone’s experience with substance use is different; therefore, symptoms and consequences can differ. The levels of treatment also differ based on your usage and whether you seek support for substance use or have been diagnosed with an SUD.
Therapy for 20-Somethings
Moving into adulthood brings its own set of challenges. You may feel pressure to have a “career” or find your life partner. You may be unsure of making these big life decisions and may feel lost because you no longer have school or other adults in your life telling you what you should choose.
Therapy for Children
Being a kid can be difficult sometimes. It’s a crucial developmental period of growth and change during which children learn about the world and themselves. This can be overwhelming to some children since many are still learning all the tools and skills to help them cope with their emotions and life’s stressors. This is where therapy can provide support.
Therapy for Teens
The period of adolescence can be exciting, but also challenging for many teens. Difficulties with friends, school, anxiety, depression, cutting, and substance abuse are all common issues for this group. Due to a lack of life experience, teens may not know how to manage these problems which is why therapy can be especially helpful.
Trauma & PTSD
Trauma symptoms and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can be debilitating for many who experience it. Recovery from trauma is possible and we have therapists who can help.
