Infertility Counseling

You’ve long dreamed about having children, but so far, that blessing feels out of reach.

Infertility can be highly distressing for any woman or couple to experience. Others around you become pregnant, leaving you feeling alone, sad, and insufficient. People keep asking when you will have kids, not knowing the sensitive nature of that question. And, if you decide to seek treatment or medication for help, those options come with many unknowns and anxieties.

If you are experiencing infertility, you might find it helpful to seek infertility counseling help from a mental health provider.

You may be feeling:

At Move Forward Counseling, we utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help correct unhealthy and harmful thought patterns that can occur within your journey. Mindfulness also serves as a helpful counseling technique for infertility. Working towards being in the present time positively, taking each day as it comes, and letting go of the things you cannot control is difficult, but you can grow stronger. We help you cope with the process by helping you guard against depression, anxiety, and stress.

Infertility feels like a lonely experience, but with the right professional to help guide you, you will not feel so alone anymore.

Infertility Counseling

Women experiencing infertility report significant psychological distress. Infertility is frustrating, discouraging, isolating, anxiety-producing, and depressing. Others are becoming pregnant around you. People ask when you will have kids, not knowing the extremely sensitive nature of that question. There are many unknowns and anxieties surrounding fertility medications and treatment options.

Many women in this situation would benefit from mental health support for coping with infertility and preventing depression, anxiety, and stress from further complicating infertility. There may be a hesitation to start a medication for depression/anxiety because of the risks when you eventually become pregnant. An alternate and helpful solution is cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is a way to normalize your experience and correct unhealthy thought patterns in the infertility journey.

It is easy to unfairly compare yourself to others around you or begin to feel hopeless. CBT helps challenge and change those thought patterns into more positive and productive thinking. Mindfulness is also a helpful technique for infertility that can be taught during counseling. Working towards being in the present time, taking each day as it comes, and letting go of the things you cannot control is difficult but highly beneficial work.
